About G1 George Square
The largest façade retention in Europe at its time, we added an extra floor to the original structure and integrated a 9-storey, 130,000-square-foot office building behind the Grade A listed façade. It also features the largest glass roof in a commercial building in Scotland.
G1 also has a practical 2-storey basement that accommodates parking for 64 cars and a striking triple-height entrance hall. However, what sets this project apart is its successful fusion of historic and modern design elements, a collaborative effort in partnership with Historic Environment Scotland and Glasgow City Council's planning department.
Furthermore, this project was awarded the BCO Scotland Best Commercial Workplace award in 2011.

The Fortis DataCentre in Lanarkshire spans 100,000 square feet with 4,000 square meters of technical space across four halls. It was Scotland's first speculative Data Centre and is powered by 100% renewable energy, boasting a remarkable PUE rating of 1.18. As Scotland's first Tier III Uptime Certified Data Centre, it excels in construction and design. It is now owned by DataVita Ltd, which is part of HFD's technology business.
The facility's journey began in 2012 with the construction of a 60,000-square-foot industrial building designed for future data centre use. The project involved diverting the nearby Kennel Burn and lime stabilising the ground. Built with piled foundations, a steel frame, concrete floors, and blockwork walls, it features fire-rated class A2 aluminium cladding. In 2016, the first fit-out phase, including two data halls and essential support infrastructure, was completed, demonstrating its adaptability and commitment to providing cutting-edge data centre services.

HFD delivered a fully integrated Cat B fit-out and constructed the original family of three buildings at the Hamilton Campus, which was completed in 2010 and subsequently occupied by the University of the West of Scotland (UWS).
The 235,000 sq ft design linked the three buildings by creating a large atrium known as “the street”. This acted as an entrance to the campus, creating communal meeting and break-out space and hosting a coffee shop.
The building has been fitted to provide modern open-plan learning spaces supporting technology and smart devices. The campus also hosts a 236-seat auditorium and conference facilities for up to 128 people.
The campus is the first speculative carbon-neutral office development in the UK. HFD prioritises sustainability, and this campus is powered by 100% renewable power from the nearby wind farm and photovoltaic panels on the roof. This makes it one of the UK’s greenest educational facilities.
